Obituary of Lawrie Mitchell

MITCHELL: It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Lawrie Steven Peter "Mitch" Mitchell on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at his home in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 60. Mitch was born February 8, 1953 in Brandon, MB. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Melvin, sister Melva and brother Bob. He leaves to mourn his sister Elizabeth, Bergland, ON: son Lawrence (Charlotte), grandchildren Samuel and Dakota-Leigh, Calgary, AB; son Steven Peter (Sabrina), grandchildren Cameron and Brianna, Oshkosh, WI; daughter Kristina Joy Mitchell-Pennell (Lincoln Sr.), grandchildren Brenda, Victoria and Lincoln Jr., Oshkosh, WI; His companion Dee Dee, niece Charlene and family, nephew Brian, as well as numerous cousins and friends. Mitch was a Carnie with a large extended family. He affected the lives of many people. He went out of his way to ensure that the special needs children and adults had an enjoyable day at the fair. As one of his workers quoted, he was a giant teddy bear with a big heart and wide shoulders and was known as "Uncle Mitch." Mitch's accomplishments included being President of the Fair Association, a Shriner, and a Mason. A Celebration of Mitch's Life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Celebrant, Jamie Berry, officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
