Obituary of Terry Ann Louise Cook
COOK: Terry Ann Louise Cook was born in Brandon on May 1, 1949 and was the first child to Myrtle and Keith Cook. Terry grew up in Brandon along with her three siblings, where she attended Harrison High School graduating in 1967.
Terry spent much of her adult life in service to the elderly. Her career started in Winnipeg in a care home and continued on returning to Brandon. She furthered her career by becoming a licenced practical nurse, while raising her two boys Jason and Dean on her own. She lived her life with independence and instilled this virtue with her children. One of her other joys in life were her animal companions, her cats and dogs. When her life dictated that she had to give up her love of nursing, she found a new passion for gardening, which allowed her to express her creativity through nature in her own backyard. She continued this, until the end of this chapter in her life, which ended at her home with the independence that she aspired to have throughout her life.
Terry became a member of the Eastern Star on December 04, 2006. Terry enjoyed her correspondence with her sponsor child through World Vision. Terry is survived by her two sons Jason Owens (wife Jennifer and granddaughter Kyra) and Dean Owens (Tracy Schlamb), her sisters Barb Brown (husband Brian), Ellen Stevens and brother Bill Cook.
Terry was predeceased by her parents, Keith Cook and Myrtle Ross, Myrtle's second husband Hugh Ross, brother-in-law Ron Wurster (Ellen's husband) and sister-in-law Bev Cook (Bill's wife).
Memorial service is to be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Brandon, 560-13th Street East, on Wednesday, August 14th at 2:00p.m., Kim Lewarne will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry's memory may be made to the Brandon Humane Society or to World Vision Canada.
