Obituary of Fred Brandt

Frederick David Brandt

September 8, 1929 – June 28, 2025

Fred passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Fairview Personal Care Home at the age of 95. Fred was born on September 8, 1929 in Moore Park and lived a life rooted in family, community and hard work.

Fred was raised on the family farm, where he spent many devoted years working alongside his parents. On October 21, 1962 Fred married Kathleen Davidson. Together they had two children, Darryl and Sylvia while living on their farm west of Justice.

Fred found joy not only in farming but also in driving the school bus to Forrest, a role he proudly held for many years. He had a lifelong love of reading, with westerns being his favourite. He also cherished the music of the 1930’s and 1940’s which brought him comfort and joy throughout his life.

Fred is survived by his son Darryl Brandt (Dorothy Cudney), brother Bill (Diane) Brandt as well as many extended family members and dear friends. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife Kathleen and daughter Sylvia.

Fred will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of simple pleasures, his overwhelming generosity and the steadfast presence he was to those who knew and loved him.  He will be dearly missed.

Fred will be laid to rest alongside Kathleen at Sparling Cemetery on Friday, July 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8^th Street, on Friday, July 4, 2025 at 2:00 p.m.
